Old Weird Albion Book Launch – Photographers Gallery 07.11.17

At the Photographers Gallery in London tonight, showing some work from my Beachy Head project for the book launch of The Old Weird Albion.

The Old Weird Albion is a creative non-fiction exploring memory, myth and the landscape of the South Downs by American writer Justin Hopper. Published by Penned in the Margins, this event celebrates the release of this poetic essay of encounters with forgotten histories, eerie suburbs, eccentrics and visionaries.

Alongside book readings, Hopper is joined by photographer Wendy Pye showing her images engaged with suicide and cultural memory at the cliffs of Beachy Head; artist and writer Angus Carlyle reads from his own work A Downland Index (Uniformbooks), documenting 100 successive runs across the South Downs; and musician Sharron Kraus performs a new composition with Hopper inspired by the landscape at Chanctonbury Ring.

Following the performances and discussion join us for a drink and pick up a copy of The £8/£5 members & concessions
